Day 100: YES to the journey 🥳
Hello! I can hardly believe it, but it’s already Day 100 of #The100DayProject!
The other day, I wrote about how my own personal project had gone totally off the rails. I set out to create a tarot deck and instead fell in love with watercolors. I didn’t make a single tarot card. A younger version of me would have considered that – or worse, myself – a failure. But the wiser me celebrates the wisdom and beauty in the project allowing me to follow my curiosities. To go beyond the parameters of what I was supposed to do and instead do what my heart wanted to do.
And look: if the project facilitator can go wildly off course, so can you. However you may be looking at or judging your project – the number of days you completed, the number of days you missed, the number of likes you got – there’s nothing wrong with those metrics. But a better question might be: are those the metrics that matter to you? What does really matter to you?

Keep saying yes. Wherever you are, keep going. The number of days is arbitrary. The project is just one container for committing to your practice. Maybe you want to keep going. Maybe you’re ready to take a break. Maybe you’re like me and starting something totally new and unexpected. Take some time in the coming weeks to reflect on where you are, everything you’ve learned, and celebrate your commitment.

Thank you for leading this project, for sharing your ideas, your encouragement, your spirit with us! This project was wonderful for me and I've (almost - only a couple more days!) Achieved my goal of putting marks on paper for 100 days! I drew pictures, I illustrated my days, I experimented with watercolor and took online classes. I brought a spirit of the beginner, of play to my creating. I see this as a beginning, a jumping off place. I may decide to become more disciplined at some point but for now I plan to continue to do what feels good, play with color and shape and form, learning and being in the moment. Thank you again!
I really enjoyed participating this year! I worked on a short story collection, and while I didn’t write all of my ideas, I accomplished more than I expected to. This is a great starting off point for me that I can continue to work on for the rest of the year. I even painted a few watercolors, and I’m excited to draw some illustrations to go along with my stories. I’ll probably even share a few on my substack 😊 Thank you for the inspiration and pep talks - it helped me a lot! Good luck with all your artistic endeavors 🌈
