Hey, Artists! Welcome to Week 3 of #The100DayProject.
This is my 9th year being involved with project and over the years when people share their experiences with me, they consistently say the most rewarding part of the project is sharing their work.
And the most challenging part? Also: sharing their work.
Funny how that happens, huh? 😉
Our theme this week is taking up space.
Two weeks in, you might already be wondering how to keep your posts going. Your relationship with social media is for you to define and…part of the project is sharing your work. A few questions for you:
How do you feel about “taking up space” by posting about your project online?
Where/how would you like to share your project? Is what you’re doing working for you?
What cadence feels right for you?
What formats (images, Reels/videos) do you like sharing?
Just like the rules are made up for our projects, so are the rules for sharing. For example, sometime after Stories came out, I started sharing my project there and saving it as a Highlight instead of posting it on my grid every day – it felt like a lot less pressure (and less time).
Let’s brainstorm some other ideas for how to share your project – I’ll start here but I’d love for you to add your ideas in the comments:
Post a carousel of images once per week instead of daily
Create a slideshow-type Reel of multiple images once a month (here’s one from me last year as an example)
Create a video Reel of your process
Post an image of your inspiration sources
Post a Story or Reel about what you’re learning
XO,
Lindsay
P.S. Here are a few more creative ideas on how to share your work from our friend
too!
I just started painting and mixed media, which is leading to a lot of experimentation. I’m going to try different projects as they occur to me. Some work, some don’t, but I’m exciting about posting it all. My photography IG account-#sharonbentonstudio is what I do for a living, so it’s highly curated. My art account-#q42designs- started out as textile art but has morphed into “how I make art IRL”! Expect some triumphs, expect some fails. Always expect to learn something from it all.
I am struggling with this this year. My project is a little different than what I did last year and it makes it harder to share. My project includes doing one of 3 things. Posting, which I need to add the day to, that would solve that, working on my store website, I don't know how to share that, or painting, that's the easy one, but the one I do the least of right now. So, the question becomes, how do I share that I am working on my site? I just don't know. Sigh. But at least I have accomplished my project so far! That's better than last year where I made it for 9 days!
