Iโve not been able to participate this time around unfortunately as Iโve had to do a lot of travelling but Iโm watching the feed and enjoying the lovely work happening there.
Iโm really enjoying most of the work I do. Even though I know when I try too hard it wonโt be fun, I still struggle with this. Some where in between play and focus is my sweet spot. I think Iโm beginning to recognize specific chickadees. How cool is that! I quit last time at day 34 and that is hanging around in the back of my mind. Sketchbook Revival has started (free workshops 2/day access for about 3 weeks) and day 2 was drawing into blobs. I think that will be a fun next step. Shifting direction and finding ways to make this playful is really helpful. A part of me that feels guilt is not doing Lindsayโs homework. Doing the daily work is what I can handle so I am declaring my permission to stick with that!
Way to go, Shelly! ๐๐ป I jumped on the sketchbook revival bandwagon and itโs nice to have specific tasks to do each day. Plus the whole learning new things bonus. Hope you keep having fun. ๐
Youโre doing great, Shelly! I love these reflections. The โhomeworkโ is just an add-on, and it seems to me like youโre doing a lot of learning so I donโt think thereโs anything you need to feel guilty about! Love the permission youโre giving yourself too ๐
The theme really resonates with me today. Iโm all over the place with materials and style but having lots of fun. My project is a daily sketchbook painting and while Iโve worked in acrylics until this last week Iโve done a few gouache, watercolor and marker works - abstract, expressionistic representational (both from reference photos and from memory/imagination), and contour drawing.
This week Iโm committing to continue experimenting and exploring AND begin sketching shorebirds native to my area in Florida - especially the Great Blue Heron.
Iโm so glad youโre having fun! I just took an art class with Lindsay Stripling and she referenced an artist who paints realism and abstract (Gerhard Richter) and how his style in both is distinctly *him* even though theyโre very different. Was kind of liberating to think about how someone can have a distinct visual voice across more than one genre or medium! Maybe youโre an artist with many distinct styles ๐ซถ
Cheers Bex! When it isnโt fun, I ry to backtrack a little and figure out what ailed rโฆ most often the attitudeโฆ. I loved Mike Loweryโs blobsโฆ ended upwith a man driving a cake car getaway. Hahaha ran out of time this morning to prep myself some blobs for chickadees so tried making a pre-existing one into a chickadeeโฆ soso. Thanks for the encouragement!
Nell, if you have an iphone, in your photos, click on Edit (on the photo you want to add your handle), then choose Markup (pen icon within a circle), in that menu find the + sign. That pop up menu gives you options to type text or even add your signature if you have a pencil. Or you could use your finger. Once youโve added your handle, you can move the text anywhere on the photo. Good luck! I just learned about this a few weeks ago and LOVE using it!
No, I'm an Android girl (actually do have an ipad), but your instructions got me thinking and I've worked it out. I actually thought there was some big special mysterious IG way to do it, didn't realise it was so simple!
I've managed to not miss a day so far! Being flexible on how much I do day to day has been key. I'm so happy that made it this far already. As I do more days the quieter my inner critic gets (my goal is to let my inner child play and explore art supplies while quieting the inner critic). My critic has been quieting down on its own to my surprise and I find the more intuitive and fluid the creative procress becomes. It feels so good!
As I'm now returning to art for myself after many years I'm lost on developing my style and so I am very happy this topic has come up!
I began with a food themed idea and itโs been hard to stick with it sometimes. I feel like I shouldโve chosen something more general so I have more freedom to do a โdaily paintingโ but not be restricted by subject-
One of the beautiful aspects about the 100 day project is you are free to change the parameters of your personal project at any time to any thing! Make it work for you. ๐
I work on my piece most days, it is a real challenge and still lots to do.
Iโve not been able to participate this time around unfortunately as Iโve had to do a lot of travelling but Iโm watching the feed and enjoying the lovely work happening there.
Thanks for supporting folks! Thereโs lots of ways to participate in creativity, and a season for it all ๐๐

Thanks for motivating us to keep going Lindsay!

I'm plodding along! Really enjoying it actually....some days I don't get anything done, other days I'm loving what I do get done!
Can anyone help? How do I add my IG handle to my photo if im considering uploading it to the weekly "do the 100 days" account please?
Have a fantastic day x
Hi Nell! You can use an app like Adobe Express or Canva. Or a very simple way if you use Instagram:
1) open the app
2) add an image of your work as a story (either by sharing a post from your feed or by uploading a photo)
3) add text in the story
4) download the story (itโs a little arrow pointing down I believe)
Either way, donโt let not adding your handle stop you from submitting! Trish adds them when she can and we tag artists in the caption too.

Hi Lindsay.
Thank you so much for your reply.
That's fantastic. I'll give it a go. x
