Day 43: befriending curiosity 🫂
find and follow the clues on the incredible scavenger hunt of your life
“Curiosity gives you clues on the incredible scavenger hunt of your life.” — Elizabeth Gilbert
In my creative practice and in my life, it’s not unusual that I find myself feeling stuck, lost, or generally in search of direction. When this happens, one thing has helped me time and again:
Following my curiosity.
Curiosity has tugged me along to New York; it’s nudged me toward my meditation practice, it’s pulled back the curtain to publishing my own newsletter. Curiosity glistens, catches the corner of my eye, invites me closer. It has opened doors, windows, winding paths that expand beyond what I know, making life more colorful, rich, vibrant.
This week, we’ll explore curiosity as a guide to our creative expression.
When is the last time I did something that wasn’t productive or practical – something purely for the purpose of fun or exploration?
When I feel curious, how do I feel it in my body?
What is something I’ve always wanted to do, or learn about, but never had the time?
What would it look like to make time this week – even for a few minutes today?

Note from Lindsay: at the end of the project last year, Eden reached out to me with a draft of something she was working on about rediscovering creative living and a note about how #The100DayProject helped her take action on starting her newsletter,
. She also mentioned she’d love to contribute or help out in the future – how’s that for following your curiosity! – so I took her up on her offer and am thrilled to have her share on the topic of following your curiosity this week. It’s normal to get in a slump (or not) at this point in the project (or any). Get curious! What do you want to do, even if it doesn’t make sense or doesn’t seem related to your project? Go for it! THE RULES ARE MADE UP! BREAK ‘EM AND MAKE ‘EM AGAIN!
When I'm stuck and it takes long for me to shake that away my system, I turn into volunteer work. I've learned all sorts of skills through putting myself to the service of others.
I've been finishing a sketch each day and then adding colour the next. A couple of days ago I became curious about developing a theme that keeps repeating by adding more detail in this same theme. I don't know where it's going but it means I break my #100day rules and will spend more time on this one piece just to see what unfolds.
