That’s great advice, thank you Herbert! Last year, I set a timer for 1-2 hours to write short stories long hand in a notebook, and it worked out well for me. I’m going back to that format now to take some pressure off and enjoy the craft of writing again.

Love that! I do journaling as well as calendar planning by hand.

There’s something relaxing and grounding about writing something by hand. It feels much better than staring at a screen!

Definitely. Even though I often can’t read my handwriting well later 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah sometimes I can’t either haha! My handwriting gets sloppy when I’m really in the zone, but I see that as a positive thing. Plus, no one sees my notebook except for me anyway. It’s nice to have those private digital free spaces that are just for us 😊

Resonates. I consume a lot of media - documentaries, tv, podcasts, books - and it’s often a balance for me. It can be inspiring, energizing, and thought provoking as well as sometimes just much needed mindlessness. But there’s a tipping point where I realize I am doing it to numb and distract and it destroys my creativity when I do. So being aware of the incorporating of different types of rest is critical as you’ve described.
