FRIENDS! Today marks Day 100 of our 100 Day Projects.
Creative challenges like this one are rarely just about the thing we’re making. They’re about choosing curiosity, trying and trying again (and again and again). Exploring the parts of our creativity we might have otherwise ignored or postponed. Remembering that we can rely on ourselves to show up for the things that are important to us.
Take a breath. Look at what you made. Really, REALLY look!
Whatever your journey looked like—steady and strong, stop-and-go, or barely hanging on (been there!)—acknowledge it. This was a commitment. And whether you’re here with 100 pieces or “just” a few, you made space for creativity in your life. It matters.
If you’re feeling a little unsure about your progress or wishing you’d “done more,” let me offer this: there’s no perfect way to do this (making art, being human). All we can do is try a little every day and find ways to keep going, pay attention, and make our inner and outer worlds more of what we want them to be.
It’s not always about what we start out thinking it’s about.
What surprised you during these 100 days?
What did you learn about your creative process?
What patterns or ideas emerged that you want to explore further?
What was hard, and what helped you keep going?
Can you see and feel the growth—not just in your work, but in your mindset and momentum?
I see it and I celebrate it.
Are you ready to celebrate? A celebration could be as simple as framing your favorite piece, sharing a look back at what you’ve made and what you’ve learned, writing a letter to your future creative self, hosting an art show, or treating yourself to new supplies. Creative milestones deserve recognition. What will you do to recognize yourself and your project?
A few very heartfelt thank yous—to Michael Bierut for starting the project and for being so incredibly cool about us running with it, to Elle Luna for inviting me to join, to AnnMarie Cordner for her excellent care in running the Facebook group, and to all of our contributing writers for so thoughtfully guiding us this year:
, , , , , Elle Luna, , , , and .And thanks to all of you for being here. Thank you for adding your voice to this chorus of creativity. I hope you’re proud of what you made and who you are becoming in the process. I’m proud of us!
XO,
Lindsay
P.S. We don’t have any submissions for IRL events yet, but I’ll be in touch soon about a Bay Area celebration later this summer. I’d also love to share the ways you’re sharing your project and the exciting things you’re working on, like art shows and zines and teaching classes and other gatherings. Still figuring out what that might look like but more soon.
Thank you, Lindsay! Such a joy to be included again this year ❤️
Thank you. 3rd year and I was finally successful. I did 100 days of lettering prompts with the help of a book The Art of Whimsical Lettering by Joanne Sharpe and a tutorial by artist Kristen Fagen on how to use gel plates, which I used for some of my backgrounds. With your posts combined I finished. I feel good about myself and thank you too for the shared artists of which some I am now following.
